Every centimetre of this shawl is the product of deliberate, painstaking work at the loom, where the weaver follows a talim pattern card to interlace coloured threads in sequences that build up the design from within the fabric itself.
The dominant motifs here are the buta and beh — the teardrop paisley forms that have defined Kashmiri textile design for centuries, their curved bodies filled with flowering sub-motifs that reward close inspection. The ground is 100% pure Capra Hircus cashmere, and the finished piece has the dense, tapestry-like hand that distinguishes a true Jamawar from any imitation.
